search of adventures. On the way, their discussions tackle spiritual,
chivalrous and practical matters… and their friendship deepens. 
Serra's minimalist, free adaptation of Cervantes'
eponymous novel brings to mind such masterly works as Bresson's
LANCELOT DU LAC, Pasolini's THE GOSPEL OF ST. MATTHEW, and Rossellini's
FRANCIS, GOD'S JESTER. Shot entirely in natural surroundings, it achieves a
unique synthesis of the landscape painting and modernistic European
filmmaking. Concluding its tour of film festivals worldwide---including the Director's Fortnight in Cannes, the Viennale, and the
Rotterdam Film Festival---and winning numerous awards, Chicago Cinema
